We continue on our journey thru the nooks and crannies of Malacca. First, our apologies for being slow and lazy with the posts :)

Certain towns in Malaysia still have a lot of old town charm... they are very charming to travellers like us. Its not hoity toity like the big cities with their big malls and the branded brands. Like some coffee gets branded and cost a bomb but taste like crap. Except for Starbucks of course. *LOL* I still love my macchiato with cream. An indulgence when i get to the city on errands.

We went to a back alley (which was surprisingly quite clean and doesn't smell) for charcoal grilled tofu with fishballs in a thick peanuty sauce. It was simply delicious.

This stall is called Tong Bee’s Cockles Stall. We didn't ordered cockles as we were both not really great fans of boiled cockles. It was a pretty neat place to eat as we have to sit on these low stools in some very dark back alley.

It is surely not for the less adventurous if you are edgy about hygiene and safety. Motorbikes were also passing by us slowly just inches away from where we sat.

Next we walked to the Stadthuys which is the red square of Malacca. This is a favourite place to take loads of pictures for most tourists. The exterior of all the buildings around here are red... all of the same hue.

You can also find many colourful and heavily decorated pretty trishaws to take you on a spin through the streets of Malacca.

When we got to Jonker Street, we met a juicy man.

He turned his back to us and kept flexing his muscles. All we can do is just stare with eyes wide open. O.O The body glisten like gold and were shiny in many many places. We continue staring and he continue adjusting his muscles for our eyes.

A few of his friends showed up and they all continue to torture our eyes with their juicy beautiful glistening bodies. We continue staring with buttery legs. Our jaws dropped with each flex of them muscles. It was too much... too much eye candy for a birthday. I was getting a sugar high.

I felt woozy in the head. I need air. Too many people.. too many muscles. Too much eye candy for a night. Halpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp...

Some of you might be missing the Curly. He told me that he upgraded himself to angel status. He says he's most angelic and behaving like an angel lately. I kinda think that his halo is weighing him down.

His halo started travelling to his back. I wonder why.

Its getting a wee bit late here. Hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving dinner and am thankful for all loved ones and the things in life. Save some turkey for us. We'll be coming over soon. For more eye candy and if you wonder why there's so many juicy men that night, we'll indulge you on our next post... if we don't get too lazy.

A note to Lil Miss Maple & Yuki's momma ~
The Majestic Hotel is not spooky at all. The rooms are at the new tall building behind the mansion. Its only 10 years old. The old mansion only houses the lobby, reception, library and a big nice restaurant upstairs. No spooky spooks :)

Sorry we are a lil behind in most matters :) We are just a wee bit lazy... wee bit dazy.. and the rainy cool weather is not helping much.

We promised some photos of juicy men tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends who are celebrating. Keep all our furries safe and no cooked turkey bones for them please. Be safe and have a wonderful holiday enjoying the bird. Hope everyone's turkey turns out great :)

We are thankful for your friendship and care.

xoxo,
Dommy and sometimes the cow.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I am grinning like an idiot now. I am not 50 yet.. but gonna get there soon one day. Sorry for lying but women always lie about their age right? You all have been very kind with your comments and telling me that running away is okay. Sometimes we all need to get away for a while if we could. Its always refreshing and its good for the soul. Just remember to come back to the loved ones and the furries.

People like me get to run away more because i am not attached to a pole ^.^ I got a bunch of very close friends. We go wayyyyy back. The kind of friends that you can talk about fart and poos. *LOL* The ones that you can pick off from where you left off even if its been years.

I've know them for more than 20 years. Some of them are attached with families while some of us are still hanging single. Sometimes we travel in a pack like wolves. It all depends on who's available and who's free at that moment in time.

I have travelled with a lot of different people to different places. Sometimes i love to go solo as not everyone likes to travel with a crazy photographer who takes pics of all the doors and windows along the way :)

I am still kinda looking for a lonely planet traveller who will go places with me. One who is not afraid of the rough road ahead. One who does not mind roughing it out at the backpackers inn. And one who will love to photograph doors and windows just like my crazy head.

On this trip to Malacca, we stayed at a hoity toity place as it was my day and we decided to go hoity toity as it was the 11-11-11. The next time this date comes around again, it will be a hundred years. I don't think i will still be around in a hundred years. We want to remember when we are old and crinkly that we had hoity toity before :) We are sometimes a bit impulsive. It was supposed to be a party of three of us but one of my friends could not get off work.

The Majestic Hotel is an old mansion which was built in the 1920s. Having retained its old facade, it is quite a stunning building. Every corner is a breathtaking sight. The walls holds many secrets i am sure. I went a little crazy with the camera here. Stepping into this building is like taking a step back in time.

Before we booked into this hotel, we were afraid that there might be spooky spooks to greet us at night as it is an old building. No spooky spooks came by that night :)

This is The Library in the old mansion. Tea is served here. This lady in the pink kebaya was just going about doing her work of setting up the tables for tea.

Some of the corners at the lobby has this glass jars. The glass jars hold some light snacks. It was a nice touch.

The hotel overlooks a village called Kampung Morten. A traditional village with kampung houses in old Malacca architectural style. I've been to Malacca many many times but i have never stumbled here before.

This is a living museum called Villa Sentosa here in the village. A very friendly old man manages the place. He'll answer all your questions with a big big smile on his face.

There are some homestays here and the next time we come again to Malacca, we will be checking out the homestays for a different experience.

We will show you where we met some pretty juicy interesting men in our next post :)

I think i have been quite lucky all my life. My family loves me. I get to do what i want most of the time and i got a job which i love. I get to run away sometimes. I only get nagged once in a while. But don't mind the old folks. They might be long windy winded but they nagged because the love you. I even know how to switch off my ears if the nagging gets too long. I have trained my ears to be like the radio switches :)
Sometimes i run away. I know i am really too old to be running away but sometimes i still do it :) I am a free soul.

I ran away from home last Friday and spend the whole weekend walking around and round and taking pictures. Taking pictures always make me happy. The need to get out and about and to see things is one of the reasons why my life is such and the reason why i am still without another half by my side. I have not really searched for my other half through mountains and valleys and the great seas and i still have not found him yet. Ahh... oh woe is me. I might just end up old and crinkly with no one to hold my hands :(

After leaving some instructions on the white board for my dad to feed Dom his food and medicine, i told my Curly i am taking off. He tried to fit into my backpack but lately... he's kinda on the heavy side. He couldn't even fit one of his feet into my backpack. *LOL* I think i might just have to put him on a vegetarian diet soon.

Dommy: Who you calling FAT? I am just big boned you know. And its just all furry furs.

Dad sent me off in the morning to the railway station and he even packed my favourite egg tarts for me to eat just in case i got hungry on the way. What can i say... i am still daddy's little girl :D

These eggtarts are yummy fellas. My all time favourite... and you kind of have to queue to buy them. I guess my dad loves me quite a lot. Yes yes... i am gloating.

Since it was also my 50th birthday (i think its my 50th or was it 60th cos i stop counting after my 30th), my dad went to the bakery early in the morning and got me a white chocolate cake :) The bakery was just opening and they didn't have anyone to write my name on the cake.

My dad came home with the cake and insisted to put a letter N to spell my name. So he took out some red paper and tried to cut the letter N real fast as i have a train to catch in an hour's time. He cut a few times and finally got the letter N.

My beautiful cake. It was more beautiful with the letter N.

I said goodbye to my Curly... grabbed my bag and my dad sent me off to the railway station. I bet Dom was howling for quite a while after i left. He always howls sadly when i leave him. I didn't know about this until my sister told me about it. I went out for a while and left him in the house with my sister once. He just howled and howled. My sister was so scared and thought he was in pain. That was when we found out he howled when i am not with him.

I always choose to leave the ones that love me the most. But i always come back. I choose to run away on this birthday because i always run away from situations and things. I don't fight with anyone. I just walk away. I don't fight for what i want, because i believe that if it was mine to begin with, it will be with me in the end.

My journey on the train ended up in Kuala Lumpur. My friend picked me up and we went by car to another city. The historical city called Malacca.

I dragged.. practically dragged and forced one of my best buddies to take the day off work on Friday and spend the day with me :) She loves to be photographed and i love to photograph things and furries mostly. Don't tell her that. *LOL* I love to photograph doors, windows and buildings and she loves to have her photos taken.

She is one of my best buddies because she will always drop what she is doing and make time for friends like us. Even if we end up old and crinkly without a hand to hold one day, i know i will still have hands of family and friends to hold. It will be not quite the same but it will be okay. All you ever need is just a few good friends and family and a furry or two or three.. or maybe a lot of furries.

I believe some of us are always looking and looking for the other half to make us complete. I sure hope my other half is not sipping Tequila Sunrise in Timbaktu. It is a long way to Timbaktu :) I don't know if i know how to get there.

I am actually quite happy last weekend... my dad made my birthday most memorable. I am touched by his actions. Even though i am still getting nagged and nagged and nagged daily even though i am in my 50s now... i guess in his heart, i will always be his little girl.

We started snoozing from last friday. We carried on till Saturday and Sunday and then Monday. Monday was a public holiday here in Malaysia as it was the Eid al-Adha. So we continued snoozing till late Monday afternoon. That was when Grandpa came home.

We sent grandpa off to Kuala Lumpur last Friday on the electric train. It takes about 2 hours to get to Kuala Lumpur. This trains do not allow pets to be on board. It would be quite nice if i can ride in one of these. All the trains and public transport in our country do not allow pets.

First my cow started vegetating in front of the television. She always watches a lot of tv when grandpa is not around. I watch some tv with her and decided to snooze a bit.

When she got bored with all the tv time, we went out in the car to a new place for walkies. She has brought me here before on my birthday last year.

Its very nice to walk here as there are new scents and not so much mails. The air is very fresh here too.

There's a mining pool beside me in this picture. In our hometown, certain areas are still with mining pools as Ipoh used to be a booming mining town many many cow years ago. It is a town built on tin as fortunes were made during the boom.

I saw this banana tree by the mining pool. If you looked closely, you will see the banana tree flower. The banana leaves are very useful and in some restaurants in town, we still eat rice off the banana leaves. The banana leaves are used as a plate substitute. The fragrant smell from the banana leaves makes you wanna eat mountains of rice with gravy. I know my cow usually eats mountains of rice. She looks like a pot of rice.

                                               **

Walkies usually brings a smile to my face. Can you see my set of wonderful teeth ^.^

*

Do you see the hills in the distant? Our town is in a valley and we are surrounded by limestone hills all around. Its like surround sound system :) A lot of the town folks do go up and down for walkies up the hills. My cow is too lazy and she does not have the stamina for it. She is just lazy actually and she loves her rice.

Ops! Where's this place. Are we going to the V-E-T again. Gosh! She always trick me.

I can't read chinese characters and she can't too. I wonder what these means.

Ride & Shine! I wonder what they do in Ride & Shine.

HALPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! Get me outta here. There's all these soap outside and we have strangers wiping the mirrors. They stare and smile at me. I show them all the teeth that i have left and BARK at them. I got to protect my cow. They move slowly away but they still smile and wave at me. I am no friend to anyone who pours soap on my ride.

We left the Ride & Shine place and we ended up next door which is McDs. We got a bag of Chicken McBites and a hugeeeeeeeeeee Big Mac. She shared some of the Big Mac with me and i love the McBites.

We continued to vegetate in front of them tvs and ate OUR McDs when we got home. It was a good quiet loooooooooooong weekend. I am glad grandpa finally came home on Monday. Else my cow will just be a lazy ole cow and continue to watch tv all day and night.

We are still sleeping in Boy's room till my Jaiboo comes back in December. We are counting the days till this smaller Boy comes back home to play with me. I am sure we will be great friends.

Its been raining quite a lot lately in the evenings. Sometimes i get to go for walkies, sometimes not. I've discussed this with my cow and we have rescheduled our walks for 4.30pm. We look like a weird pair to go walkies in the afternoon but walkies are important as i have urmm.. gain some weight and back to my robust round self. She almost toppled over when she carried me to the bathroom to give me a bath last Saturday. *BOL* She is such a weakling.

I think she's gonna sneak off somewhere with her camera tomorrow. She is treating me extra nice today. I wonder why she is not taking me along.

If you don't hear from us it means our cow is not around. I'll try to get grandpa to help me to blog and visit all of yous but i don't think he like to do that. He loves to sing and listen to oldies only.

I'll be back soon. Meantime, i'll just have to stay close to grandpa and hope he does not forget about me and leave me in the garden. He will remember to feed me i am sure... cos he always share all his meals with me. I am just worried that grandpa might just forget that i am outside chasing cats in the garden. Sometimes he forgets. I might end up sleeping with all the cats in the garden for the night.

Maybe i can sneak into her backpack and she can take me along.

oh woe is me...

woofs n licks,
Dommy
We
Its Wednesday already and we are gonna be late for Rescue Me Week. Our friends Mayzie and Brudder Ranger is hosting the Rescue Me Week from this 7 to 11 November. If you have not heard of it yet... and wanna pawticipate to win some green papers for a rescue of your choice, click on the button below and it will take you to their site to tell you all about it.

A lot of our furfriends have pawticipated and the response is pretty good. I bet Grampa J is smiling from heaven now.

The rescue of our choice is the Furry Friends Farm, Malaysia. They are a Non-Profit Organization and they depend on volunteers and the goodwill of everybody to keep the farm afloat. They do wonderful work and in 2009, they initiated a big rescue mission and saved a lot of doggies which were dumped to a deserted mangrove island to die by some very very cruel people in our country. Read about the rescue here.

Furry Friends Farm is located in Kundang, Selangor, is a no-kill animal sanctuary for rescued stray dogs, puppies, cats and kittens and other companion animals that are abandoned, neglected or abused by irresponsible people. It is run and managed by Sabrina Yeap and volunteer rescuers with the objective of creating a more compassionate and humane society towards animals.

The farm provides a secured shelter for abused and abandoned stray animals rescued in the state of Selangor. It is also a place to house and rehabilitate cats and dogs physically and psychologically. They are given a second chance to live the rest of their lives in peace and dignity.

Animals that are not successfully re-homed, will have a place permanently at the sanctuary.

SNOOZzzzzzzING...

Its such a cool Friday morning. So nice and snoozey that all we wanna do is sleep. We don't even want to flip the pictures around :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

We are a bit on the lazy side here :) so we are just gonna share one of the pictures we are working on.

I got a lot and a lot of cat pictures in my folders... it is eating up all my disc space :D but i keep taking pictures of them. I am amazed by their ability to keep me trapped with their mew and mews. And they keep mewing to get me to buy them food too. They told me they don't pose for free.

Ahhhh well... its a win win situation.. i think. The cats get fed and i get tons of pictures without leaving my home. Its good practice too.

Now Dom is complaining i am spending too much time in the garden taking pictures of the cats when i should be on the floor rolling around with him. Hmmm...

Its been raining and rainy here in Malaysia. Its worse in Bangkok where its still flooded everywhere. Do hope the situation in Bangkok will get better soon.

Yesterday was All Soul's Day and also my mom's birthday. She would have been 69 yesterday. May her soul rest in peace.

It gets quieter on a weekday as my siblings are not able to come back for mass. I didn't attend mass too. I like to walk around the church and listen to the choir sing inside the church. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of my mom on the church grounds. Somehow i know she's near. I just didn't get to see her.

I like the peaceful place where mom's remains are kept by the side of the church. A lot of people came by to remember their departed loved ones. Some still cried. My eyes are dried after all these years but the heart still aches.

She remains a big part of my life and remain close in my heart. She was gentle, soft spoken and kind. She was built with all the good qualities of how a mommy should be.

Remembering with love because we miss her so.. still.

What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from our sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind...
