I remember the time i lie on your lap at the doctor's clinic... when i was sick. Your lap was the most safest and comfortable place to be. Sometimes i will lie there longer, so you will stroke my hair.

I remember the time i lie on your lap and you will clean my ears. All of us would line up and wait our turn to lie on your lap to have our ears cleaned.

I remember the time you took me to the hospital to see some doctors. In the heat of the sun, you fainted. Before you fainted you told me to hold on to your bag and to May's hand. You did faint and they put you on a bed to rest. May and i waited for you to wake up again and we went home after that.

I remember you cooked me noodles with chicken breast meat each time i had to rush off for tuition. You were afraid that i will be hungry. But i always told you not to rush to cook just for me. But you still did. And that is why i always remembered my noodles with the chicken breast meat.

I remember the time you and papa stayed by my bedside when i had asthma. I was wheezing and wheezing away, both of you with worried faces. I always think that i was going to die. But i braved on knowing that both of you stayed up beside me all night.

I remember the first day you took me to kindergarten. You went on the schoolbus with me. I was very proud while i was on the bus because i had you by my side while the rest of the kids went alone.

I remember the chats we used to have in your room when i come back for holidays. We will talk and talk and sometimes we will bitch about papa. *LOL*

I remember papa driving us back to Taiping when grandma passed away. You were crying non-stop in the car. And papa played the song Leaving on a Jet Plane by John Denver.

I remember the time you cooked my favourite chicken. When i told you i really love the dish, you will cook it again very soon.

I remember the time that you told us to read... and always read. Because empty vessels makes the most noise.

I remember the time you teach me to paint waterfalls. You always helped me with my art. You should have been a great artist yourself.

I remember the sad face of yours each time we had to leave to go back to our own lives in KL and to work. But you always told me to fly. You always told me to find my own dreams.

I remember the time you saved me all the glass bottles. Washed everything clean and packed it in newspapers. Just because i told you that i wanted to paint some bottles.

I remember the time you gave papa a good shelling when you came back from Taiping to find me with a huge bump on my head. *LOL* Papa didn't even know i fell off my bicycle and had a huge bump on my head for 2 days.

I remember the time you held my hand at Dr Chew's clinic... when i had to get my head stitched back from falling off a chair.

I remember the best nasi lemak you made which we all took to Teluk Batik to eat.

I remember the time you bought a red flowery cloth and made two identical dresses for sis and i. We look like twins. But i love that dress.

I remember the time you gave May and I each a teeshirt from our childhood. You kept it safe as a memory for us.

I remember the time when i had to secretly give you my report card to sign because i failed.

I remember the time you nagged me to sit straight. You were afraid our bodies will be crooked and we would be an eyesore.

I even remember the time you told us not to shake our legs while we eat or else all our wealth will go away.

I remember you always as my very graceful mommy. Soft spoken and never a harsh word for the world.

I remember. And i remember you. Happy Mother's Day Mommy.
Happy Beeday to You
Don't *stare* us too much
Happy Beeday to You ooooo
Happy Beeday to You ho hooooo...
Have a great Beeday Bem! May all your wishes come true :)
Life begins today :)
Here's Nick when he was 6

Today is my nephew Nicky's 14th birthday. Happy Birthday to you dear Bola!

How very fast they grow. Now he is even almost taller than me... aiyaaa...

Bola is his nickname when he was little. He was a big baby. Always smiling... and happy as a baby and round. We all called him Bola. Bola means ball in Bahasa Malaysia. He was round like a ball :)
When he was little, he was always smiling. Even today. His brother Boy named him Nicholas. We gave the elder brother a few names to choose... and he choose Nicholas. Mind you, Boy was only 3 at that time. hahahhahahahaha... But he said in his high-pitched voice.. Nicholas. My brother will be named Nicholas. And St Nicholas he was. Like Santa... always with a hohoho and a pretty smile on his face.
Thank God he didn't named him Umpi. I remembered Boy had a tortoise and he named him Umpi.

May you always have rainbows and good hearts to complete you. And may you always be happy like Santa. Happy Happy Birthday dear Bola!

Love - Nat King Cole

This is one of my favourites from the great Nat King Cole. I love how the double bass makes the song livelier with a dup dup dup :) This makes a pretty good dancing tune with a loved one. Don't you think so? Close your eyes and soon you'll be dancing ;)

TGIF.. let's drop all your guards and go dancing :D

The story continues with Stripey Spiff owing Stripe Bem 10 cents now. Read more about the 10 cents story here.

Yes Yes. I am a banana. Yellow on the outside and white on the inside. *LOL* Not very proud of myself but what to do... i am a banana. Err.. not the edible one :D

Banana is a term that Malaysian Chinese call their other Chinese folks who are more English... or english educated. I am called a banana because i go to a English school... do not know any Mandarin and cannot read the chinese papers. Its quite shameful actually.

My mother tongue is Hokkien and i only learn Cantonese when i went to Kindergarten. And boy... i do sound funny speaking Cantonese when i was in kindy. Sometimes my colleagues or friends will tell me something in Cantonese (very deep Cantonese) and i will shoot them a blank face. *LOL* I am that bad. I can go "ching cheong ching cheong* with my chinese friends... but i really don't know a lot of hard words.

In my office, my chinese friends will tell me something in chinese and ask me to translate to English to my other friends. I would scratch my head and shoot them a blank face too... hahahhahahahaa.. That's how blurr i am. I think i left my head at home locked up in the cupboard. I am in a world of my own on most days.

My favourite Malaysian comic is Gila-Gila and thereafter to Ujang after Ujang went off to start his own comic. My chinese friends were reading the chinese comic with the three men (Lo Foo Chee). I just flip through Lo Foo Chee and skip thru all the comics that have chinese words. After a while, i didn't bother reading anything in chinese.

I don't know many chinese songs and don't even ask me about the song titles. The only time i really like one chinese song, i had to ask my colleague to read out the lyrics while i write it down in words that i can understand. *LOL* My colleague was pretty patient. My sisters and i (none of us in Chinese schools) would rewind and rewind the tape to write down the lyrics of the chinese songs when we were little. I left it after that because it was too tedious. And that is one of the reasons i don't really sing in Chinese. I can go ching cheong ching cheong.. but its actually all wrong.. hahhahahahhahaaa

The only Chinese singer i really liked is Stephanie Sun and only because she sings in English too.. hahhahahahahaa

There's this very chinese guy which i went out with once.. who keeps listening to all chinese songs... i wanted to just shoot him.. :p

My friends call me the celup and something somewhere lost in transition chinese. One of them even say that i should never marry a chinese ah pek because i will have trouble communicating... huhuhuuuuuu

I guess i am more Malaysian than Chinese. Its not that i've forgotten my roots. But i've been brought up to be more Malaysian and I am really proud to be one :)

The Long & Winding Road ~ Beatles

Its been a while since i posted a song. I've always loved the Beatles and the Beetle as well :D Hope you all will enjoy this song. It sure is a long and winding road to lead me back to your heart.

Here's the lyrics if you want to sing along to it :)

The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Will never disappear
I've seen that road before
It always leads me here
Lead me to you door

The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day
Why leave me standing here
Let me know the way

Many times I've been alone
And many times I've cried
Any way you've always know
The many ways I've tried

But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me waiting here
A long long time ago
Dont keep me standing here
Lead me to your door

But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me waiting here
A long long time ago
Don't leave me standing here
Lead me to your door.

Lazy night. I didn't get any work done.. oh oh.. *lol* Probably have an earful tomorrow morning.

I have just been bumping around getting my tv fix. But i did cook today for dinner.. yes yes.. i know how to cook but now i am hungry again. Bet Boy is hungry too. My tummy just made a loud ROARRRRRRRR!

Virtually... how safe are our kids? I don't have any kids of my own yet. But i do have many kids in my life. I have been using the internet for as long as it has been around. It used to be full of programmers and a pretty safe haven. But now, every Tom, Dick and Harry knows how to use one. And every Tom, Dick and Harry knows how to use it for their own dirty evil gains and to harm little unknowing kids.

With the many "social networking" sites around, do you really know who your kids are talking to now? Do you know their friends. And the gaming sites... a lot of evil lurks there too.

I go through many teenagers and kids blogs as well. Some of the kids i do know as they are related to me. Its good to get into your kid's blogs and read about what they are doing... but don't comment la. How uncool it is to have your parents commenting on your blog rite?

The most disturbing thing about these blogs are, the kids... teenagers... post pictures of themselves in very suggestive positions... sexy... inviting trouble. Kids... they really do not know how wide the world wide web is. How easy it is to hack into someone's computer and get all their details. How crazy some people could get and probably be stalking them outside their door. I am paranoid... because i have kids in my life.

I know we cannot protect the kids forever. They will have to fight their own battles one day.

But parents, please read your kids blogs (but don't comment.. haha.. really.. don't comment). Keep your computers in a hall, so you'll always almost know what they are doing. And talk to them, be their friend. They will tell you 'almost' everything if you are their friend. I know its easier said than done. I don't have my own flesh and blood yet. I don't know what's it like to be a mother. I am only a temporary caretaker of Boy.. till he finishes school.

Err.. blocking sites on the computer will not solve the issues. Every kid i know do know how to override the block... ;)
