Homeless and Thin

One of the animals that were picked up recently by our rescue person. This is Twiggy.

This is the first time i saw her at the shelter. A bit afraid.. some soft growls but is quite gentle. The growls were because she was protective of her little ones.

Their eyes were not even open yet.

This is not just any mommy dog and babies. Twiggy is emaciated.

We have given her canned dog food, kibbles, eggs, goats milk, liver, boiled chicken. She doesn't seem to put on any weight. Its been two weeks since she first arrived. Her stools are however better looking last week.

I seek your help. Does anyone have any idea how to help her? Your comments are greatly appreciated.

This is another emaciated young dog that was picked up last week. She however is fostered at one of the volunteers home. She has parvo too.

We see so many homeless dogs and cats around us. The least we could do is offer them some food and water. For a young dog like this to get to this stage of emaciation, she must be hungry for a very long time.

This weekend, i spotted this lil kitty in our garden. Behind our house in the backlane, a lot of wild cats live and populate. We feed them sometimes as our hearts go weak when we see the smaller kitties trying to rough it out with the other bigger adult cats. Most of the houses here feed the cats in the backlanes but they are free to roam. These are wild cats. They love their freedom.

I just had two days with this little fella. The mommy was trying to teach this small fella to climb the tree in our garden. This lil fella was hanging on for dear life. She keep teaching it to climb higher and hang on. I know the main reason was for it to be independent and climb on the tree if the lil fella detect any danger. The mommy was always near to protect and look over it. I didn't go near it as the mommy cat was quite protective of the little one. I just left some food for the mommy.

Every hour i watch the small kitty through my window.. i fear for its life too. It is such a small kitty. But it was so high up and hanging on for dear life. I was afraid that it would fall. My friend assured me that a cat has 9 lives. Even if it fall, it will be okay. I never had any cats as a pet before. Dogs i have these two which i guard with my life.

Lil White Socks is gone now. A life cut short. I am so sad. It lies limp and lifeless in a box in the garden. I can hear the mommy cat mewing away sadly trying to coax it to wake up. Life and death. I can never really get over the latter. Be it a loved one or a wild cat.

A Nose By Any Other Name

The amount of time i spend with these two and taking pictures of them while they snooze... is enough to let me know that.. their noses are pretty cool.

A dog's nose is as important to them as our eyes is to us. Their nose picks up everything. From the air, the ground, from things... from your clothes.. they know where you've been just by sniffing and checking you out when you come back from somewhere. They'll even know if you've been, seen or touch another doggie *LOL*

Piper is kinda like a tiny Sherlock Holmes. Even though his nose is smaller, the moment he sees someone walks in, he'll run over and give the thorough check-thru. Kinda like the metal detector at the airports.. hahhahahahaha... You have to stay still while he sniffs you for a good few minutes. *LOL* He'll check you from legs to hands to clothes until he is satisfied. Then he gives you the pass to move ahead.

Their sense of smell is a million times more sensitive than a human's nose.

PR On The Porch

This meow's been sleeping on our porch for many months now. I think it kinda made the pillar its daybed. Usually when i try to get nearer to shoot its picture, it will scoot very fast. Light and agile like a ninja, it will jump off the top of the pillar and be on its way.

Today... i was up early and this fella was still a snooooooozing away. I took dad's camera and shoot away. I got closer and tiptoe another inch closer. It open one eye and checked me out. Since i was frozen like a statue, it close its eye again.. hehhehehehe

I felt like i was playing one of my past childhood game with it. I've forgotten what the game was called.. but you kinda got to freeze up each time the person in front turns around till u get to him/her and tap him/her on the shoulder and kinda run like crazy after that. *LOL*

Do you find cats and the dogs paw facinating? I love the shape of it. My model was kind enough to share its paw with me. It even turn it around for me to check it out :D I am always checking Dom's paw when he is sleeping or playing. Sometimes he doesn't let me hold his paw longer.

When i went in to get some biscuits to reward my model, it quickly ran away. Guess i startled it when i forgot to go slowly.. hehehe

I found another free model today :) I forgot to check whether its a male/female... but its always around. It has PR status here. I'll check again tomorrow or i'll ask Dom.
